Presentation about a tool for the economic valuation of ESS - 8 and 9 September 2010

In September 2010, the European Conference about Biodiversity “Biodiversity post-2010 - biodiversity in a changing world” took place in Ghent. One of the main thematic workshops focused on the valuation and benefits of ecosystem services. Eventually the ecosystem services-concept should be integrated at policy level. To facilitate such integration, several issues must be addressed including the development of quantitative and qualitative information tools for policy-makers. 

Together with the Flemish Institute for Technological Research, the Flemish ministry of Environment, Nature and Energy therefore recently developed a tool for the economic valuation of ecosystem services (ESS). Our colleague Sara Ochelen was pleased to present this tool on the Biodiversity Conference. You can download her presentation as well as an English brochure of the economic evaluation study on which this tool is based.
