About the conference "From human biomonitoring to policy"
Belgium presided over the European Union in the second half of 2010. The Belgian Presidency of the European Union fitted in with a Trio Presidency with Spain and Hungary. Due to a rotation system the Flemish Region played an important role in the Council of Ministers for Environment for 18 months. During the Belgian Presidency the Flemish Minister for Environment herself chaired the Environment Council. The Belgian Presidency which started on 1st July 2010 thus provided an excellent opportunity for Flanders to host some side events concerning key elements of the Flemish environment policy.
The event ‘From human biomonitoring to policy: a sustainable ‘marriage’ between health and environment’ held on 27-28 October 2010 in Brussels, Belgium aimed to bring together scientists, public and occupational health professionals and policy-makers to promote human biomonitoring as a regional, national and European policy tool in Environment & Health.
