The Flemish Government aspires to create a better and healthier environment for present and future generations. The Environment, Nature and Energy Department is charged with this task. Taking the key position in the environmental administration, it is responsible for planning and evaluating the environmental policy in compliance with economic and social demands and for the co-ordination of all environmental actors as well as the implementation and enforcement of the environmental legislation in Flanders.
Workshop energy sustainable grids in Flanders
On 23rd March 2010 the Department of Environment, Nature and Energy is organising a workshop on “Sustainable energy grids in Flanders”. Registration for the workshop is free.
2010 EU Presidency
Belgium will preside over the European Union in the second half of 2010. This presidency is a major challenge for the Environment, Nature and Energy Department since the Flemish minister in charge of the environment will chair the council meetings of the European environment ministers during that period. At the time of the previous Belgian Presidency in 2001 this role was still reserved for the federal environment minister. Continue reading
